Porch Check – July 4, 2012

Unfortunately, there are no more peaches or apricots, the season is over, but we do still have some plums available for purchase.

Also, we have plenty of delicious, ripe, fresh vegetables available – garlic, zucchini, green beans, tomatoes, and more! Come on by, we have produce on the stand most days by 9am in the morning, and try to keep the stand stocked throughout the day.

Thanks!

Farm Update – Porch Check for June 25

Farmer Dave’s Farm Update for June 25, 2012

Lots of peaches until about June 29. But the apricots are all gone.

Plenty of grapefruit and blood oranges and a few plums.

In the garden we have cucumbers,  zucchinis, crookneck squash, garlic, and onions.

Coming soon we will have tomatoes.

Thanks, Farmer Dave

Baby Chicks

The Farmer just recently purchased some new animals for the Farm… we introduce our newest members of the Farm – Bardrock and Jersey baby chicks, and baby turkey poults.   The turkeys have already grown so much just over the past week, and both the chicks and poults have recently become much more vocal, keeping us entertained with lots of little “cheep, cheeps” throughout the day.

Baby turkeys and chicks!

Peach Blossoms

On this wet and windy day, here’s a sunnier and warmer picture of just last week here on the Farm… our peach trees are blossoming like crazy!  After all of the picking, cleaning, and processing for our blood oranges, it looks like we’ll have a full slate of peach thinning on our hands.  Hopefully, we’ll have a wonderful peach crop this year, and look forward to seeing you at the summer fruit stand!

Happy, happy peach trees

Meet Our 2012 Cow

Meet our newest cow:

Meet Stroganoff, aka "Strogy"

We recently acquired a young cow to raise on the Farm.  We are lucky to know a rancher out in Valley Center and took a trip out to his 900-acre farm to pick out our 2012 cow.  Strogy will be at the Farm for the next few months, so come on over and say hi!

Owl Boxes

Along with farming our fruits and vegetables, over the past few years, we’ve been building and installing owl boxes.

A completed owl box, ready for installation

Above is the latest box Farmer Dave has completed and is ready to be installed by Farmer Dave.  The dimensions of our owl boxes are approximately 14″x30″, and about 14″ tall.

If you are interested in an owl box for your home or property, contact Farmer Dave at david[at]promacksfarm.com and your dreams of watching owls and baby owlets could be one step closer!
